Eat for health - the mediterranean way
Take a leaf out of the Mediterraneans book, a US study proves that eating more wholefoods is a better solution than just forgoing fatty and cholesterol-rich foods. So enjoy plenty of fish, vegies and wholegrains, along with a daily serve of healthy monounsaturated fats such as avocado, nuts and olive oil. What is a whole food? Whole foods are foods that are unprocessed and unrefined, or processed and refined as little as possible, before being consumed.


Promising news for peanut allergy sufferers
The results of two separate studies emerged during March showing the controlled reintroduction of peanut in sensitive individuals produced a 70% and 80% reduction in peanut allergy. These are significant and exciting results for what has been understood to be a life-long allergy. The latter study by Dr Mimi Tang and colleagues in Melbourne combined 18 months of oral immunotherapy (minute amounts of peanut given daily) with probiotics. A free full text version of the article
